Dog Days of Design

When: August 13, 2024 | 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
About:
Join us for an extraordinary charity event benefiting the Warrior Dogs Foundation, featuring HGTV and Bravo’s Michel Smith Boyd! Editor-in-chief of Colorado Homes and Lifestyles and Mountain Living Magazine, Darla Worden, will host an engaging and candid discussion with Michel to discuss his fascinating experiences as a TV design star as well his passion for our four-legged friends.
The Warrior Dogs Foundation provides the highest level of retirement care for working dogs who have dedicated their lives to serving our country and communities. They offer mental and physical rehabilitation to these canine veterans, enabling them to be adopted into loving forever homes. For those who cannot be adopted, the foundation provides lifelong care. These heroes have faced intense situations, saved lives, and protected our service personnel and freedoms. Like many human veterans, they return home with physical and mental injuries, deserving the best care. The Warrior Dogs Foundation helps them heal and transition to civilian life, allowing them to enjoy a peaceful retirement.
We are thrilled to have Miki, a retired Navy SEAL K9 and his handler, former Navy SEAL Christopher Cappa joining us to demonstrate the incredible skills of these brave working dogs. Miki is trained to detect over 15 odors of explosive compounds, ensuring the safety of his team in hazardous environments. He is also trained to fast rope, rappel, and cast from helicopters, and his swimming prowess is unmatched, capable of traversing 800 meters in rough surf without hesitation. If we have any brave volunteers, we may even be able to watch a live tackle demonstration!!!
We invite you to bring your own pups to this one-of-a-kind event! Let’s celebrate our local design community, forge genuine connections, and bond over our shared love for dogs. Even if you don’t have a dog, come and enjoy the company of all the adorable pups! After the discussion, capture the memories at our doggie photo booth, where attendees can snap photos with their own dogs, Miki, or even Michel himself.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to support the incredible work of the Warrior Dogs Foundation. 100% of ticket proceeds will go to the foundation, and there will be a QR code at the event for live donations! Your participation will make a significant difference in the lives of these heroic dogs.
A Little Help Can Make A Big Change
How do we use the funds?
Thank you for your interest in the Warrior Dog Foundation. When you donate to our foundation the majority of your money goes directly to the care of our K9s to cover costs of food, shelter, physical and mental care and exercise and play. Our overhead costs range from 10 to 20% of our total budget. That means 80-90% of the funds we receive go directly to the care of our retired Warrior Dogs. IRS 990 forms for Warrior Dog Foundation are available on request, or can be viewed on Guidestar @ www.guidestar.org. We state a percentage range because historically WDF has had periods where it was managed by volunteers and/or paid employees, and more recently, by a combination of volunteers and paid professionals for services such as bookkeeping, legal assistance and Certified Public Accountants.
